8:09 pm - Happy B-day!
Happy B-day [info]sneakingyoda !!  You are the bestest gym buddy I have ever, ever, ever had!  I am SOOOO glad that we got to work together on that FyreFae project so long ago!  That was the bestest thing!   Now I get to hang out with you, and chat with you all day, and play games with you, and OMG!  You are so awesome!  There will be much costumery, painty, artsy goodness in our future!  You make my life much more fascinating!  And eventually, I will totally demolish you in chess!  In the meantime, I will lull you into a false sense of security by drawing out your best moves!  A-HA!!!

7:31 pm - Updates
So...I have been in Tampa for the last week.  I am attending a conference for board preparation on Gen Path.  Gen Path.  How to put it into a nutshell?  High school teaches you that there are inflammatory reactions associated with infectious processes.  College might even teach you that there are neutrophils.  Med school would go so far as to discuss the two types of immunity (innate and adapttive).  Pathology residents need to know about the receptors on the neutrophils which are upregulated to allow for transmigration through the blood vessel (selectins) in case you were wondering) and what products are within the primary, secondary, and secretory vessicles of the neutrophils as well as the associated cytokines and chemokines which affect their action.  Yeah...I don't care that much either.  However, I will know that intimately for the next few months.  I do plan to promptly lose that factoid to several tequila shots come October.

We have had SEVERAL long days of lecture.  Eight in the morning to 10 pm for the last three days.  Only 8-5 today and tomorrow.  Heh.  My brain feels all beaten up and squishy.  If I turn my head to the side, the brains might just ooze out of my head.  It has been helpful that people have been bringing in rum and gin to leave in the back of the room.  People have been getting soused.  Pretty awesome I think.  One more day of eight hour lecture.  Heh...*twitch*  All for a good cause.  I have several more interesting avenues of study, which is helpful.  I look forward to knocking this god-forsaken test out of the park and NEVER looking back.

The first night, I managed to meet up with an old friend from Orlando.  We had a nice sushi dinner and I had some tasty sake.  Delicious.  It was really nice to enjoy someone that has known me from so long ago.  Back in the day, Cain was a much different person.  A wee satyr with much fretting and hand wringing....well..not THAT much, but definitely not as much raw confidence as I have gained since then.  We went to the beach for a while and enjoyed the warm water.  Far too brief of a visit, but I look forward to future occasions.

The hotel is very nice.  A beachfront resort.  They have several pools, restaurants, and lots of bars.  Fairly good service and a nice room.  Unfortunately, my room is across from the pool....so, I get a lot of kid noise and rowdy teenagers trying to be all badass.  Cute little tykes.  There is a nice gym, where I am trying to keep up my schedule *waves at gym buddy*.  Hopefully going to go for a run/jog on the beach, if it ever stops raining.  On the way to the gym, I made an interesting discovery.  I was walking along cheerily, looking to not think for an hour and work some muscles, when I stepped on a particularly crunchy leaf... (beware!  Below are images of accidental mollusckslaughter!)

only..it wasn't a leaf.... )
In other news...the concurrence of this particular trip with a full moon...on the beach...away from the ladies is exceptionally cruel.  Writhing with bottled up desire.  Dammit!  All these far too young teens and assorted lovely bits of eye candy in their bathing suits are definitely not helping.  *sits on hands*  Damn, damn, damn, damn....what a time to have manic phase!!!  GAHHHH!!!!!!

In other news, this fucking place charges for internet access!??!?!?  Ten dollars a day!  And, to top that off, the connection is all weird.  I cannot connect in my room.  Twenty five feet from my room on the pool bar...perfect connection.  In my room?  Nada!  Dammit!  Paying that much for the connection and can't have it in my room.  Wish there was just an ethernet connection i could jump on.  Bastiches!!

Well, the rain is lettinig up...might go run off some steam...

9:01 am - Holy crap!
So, I am out at the Sirata Beach Resort learning/reviewing Gen Path.  I looked at the schedule.  Lectures for four days.  8 am to 10 pm.  The fifth day is the usual 8 am to 5 pm lectures.  Yippie.....

O.O

FOURTEEN HOURS......

I will have frequent breaks.

I will come back and cry here and there.

It helps that there is a beach nearby and the bar is across from my room.

UGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

3:04 pm - What the week I was born says about me..
Very interesting.....a test result from Facebook.

You are a romantic and inspirational individual. You are able to enchant others and are easily seduced yourself. You have a sweetly innocent charm that seduces those around you. You have the power to get your way. You are an interesting blend of both logic and feeling. You are a private person who will not easily grant access to your inner world to others and can sometimes isolate yourself from the world around you. You see love as a primary reason to live and with quiet persistence and a belief in your powers you often succeed in what or who you want. You are a master of your emotions. And when you have decided that you are truly in love you can make a faithful and devoted mate. You love candle light dinners, vacations in glamorous spots and spontaneous gifts. Strengths: Affectionate – Seductive – Objective Weaknesses: Isolated – Selfish – Demanding

Hmmm...I would have to greatly agree with this assessment....neato...

11:48 am - The continuing mystery..

Louisville's Bring Your Firearms to Church Day

Pagano says the church's insurance carrier, after giving an initial go-ahead, has now told him it cannot insure the event. Pagano expects to find coverage before the end of the week and says the event won't be open-carry without it. Without insurance, he explains, "We'd just ask the open-carry folks to leave their guns in their vehicles," adding that people with concealed-carry permits could still bring loaded guns into the sanctuary.

God this...jesus that...but if the insurance company puts the kybosh down, then no dice!  *giggles continuously*

9:43 am - Happy B-Day, bub!

A very happy b-day wish to my friend, comrade, and brother in shadow...

I am so glad for that random Pagan Pride Day meeting and the instant discussion that popped up.  I am still waiting for my elaborate dagger for less than $15 by the way.  *broad grins*   Congratulations on your beautiful baby girl and your lovely wife!  I am so happy and proud for you and the many joys life has brought to you!  My best wishes to your family always.  I look forward to being an uncle one day.

I love gaming with you (even though you are a power gaming, twink-monkey, rules lawyer *smiles*) and look forward to the miraculous day when we can be on the same side.  Woe be to the opposition though, b/c we can be some sneaky bitches!

We tease and we prod, but it is only through struggle that their is progress, mon ami.  Have a good one...

See anything you like under there? (potentially, minimally NSFW) )

11:37 am - Swim Event Saturday June 20th!!

Alright Kiddos!  Next event for this year's Satyricon!

Going swimming at the Quarry Heights Recreational Area.

I was figuring between like 12:30 pm and around 6 ish, so pretty much all day.

There is a pavillion for our use with a grill.  Going to bring some charcoal and some eats.  Bring something if you like, take your chances with what we got if not.   :)

Bringing the cooler as well.  Apparently, we can have glass up at the pavillion, just not down at the beach area.

Important rules and regulations.... )
Here is a link to the directions.  I made the directions from the Walgreens on Broadway, hopefull that helps, but the map will give you an idea of how to find it.

10:14 am - Unintentional hilarity...
**backstory:  We have these coveralls that we wear to perform our necropsy duties at work.  They are called Dickies.  Well, over the years they wear out.  Mine have worn out quite a bit in seven years (still can't believe that I have lived in the frigid northlands for that long) and need to be replaced.  I found out my size and went to write a note in the receptionist's desk as she was away to order me some more.**

J!  My dickie size is 48 Long.  Can you get on top of that as soon as you can?  Thanks!

*reads what I wrote....dies of internal laughter.  Tears up note.  Writes new note replacing "dickie" with "coverall"....wanders back to office laughing to self.*

10:48 am - Interesting article...

I was reading this article.  Sex Without Intimacy: No Dating, No Relationships by Brenda Wilson

And it has several very interesting discussions.

This could be my motto!

If you're honest and open about what you're doing, and willing to commit to a relationship, she says, a hookup and friendship can be fused into a lifetime partnership.

Wow!  This has been true for me several times over!

And I think some other issues that have come up several times in discussions with others.

"For many of us, the requisite vulnerability and exposure that comes from being really intimate with someone in a committed sense is kind of threatening."

And the thought of being in love with someone, Wilkerson says, "is the most terrifying thing."

An interesting read.

My life however, is going in the opposite direction.  Although my sluttiness is probably overrated, the number of partners in a year has taken a sharp decline recently, and I am completely happy with that as the level of intimacy has taken a similar skyrocket.  Life is a funny thing.

9:36 am - Satyricon supplemental
So!  Friday!

There is a Shakespeare show being put on in the amphitheater downtown by my most adored Cherub, and we were planning to attend circa 6:30.  There will be a brief recoup, snacks, and changing...then off to Goth Night at Soco for boogy and dress up fun!  Afterwards, if we are still functional, there will be hot tubbin!  Followed by passing out on the couch!

Also, super awesome work out partner and I were planning to go boating on Saturday.  I plan to drag Orasita along with us!  Although, she does seem to be getting tired just hearing about all the plans!  :)  We shall see.

And Sunday, off to Rolla for SW game.  My poor Jedi.  Faced with so much angst.....to be a sith or not be a sith..that is the question.  :)

2:14 pm - Frivilous post of good poly! or This is working!
So...in light of my phenommenal failure, I am going to focus on some good things for a while.

I am so exquisitely happy with my polyfamily at the moment!  There have been some pretty significant steps forward in the last couple of weeks and I think that they have gone over very well.  There is growth in lots of interesting little facets and iin great big areas.  Things that I hadn't thought a lot about specifically, but which have come to the forefront and have been dealt with  via open, honest communication.  This is the major cornerstone of a relationship and I have managed to find great examples of it in not just one person, but several!  WOOT!

Had the opportunity to go over the current relationship status with some friends recently, and that has offered me a great opportunity to sit back and enjoy the bountiful awesomeness that I get to currently enjoy.

The small things like dinners to squishy multiple hugs and trust in people to care for the things you hold most dear.  We grow and learn so much about each other.  I am very pleased.  The selection of family as an adult is a difficult process.   Where you place your trust; who you depend on; who you decide is worthy of never giving up on can be exceptionally uplifting or wholly destructive.  I am continuosly warmed by feeling as though I have chosen wisely and well.

*giant hugs all around*

2:06 pm - STUPID NOOB!!!
So I made a completely ridiculous mistake.  I uploaded some of the pics from my camera using the software that came with it.  I figured the pics were on my computer and I could just go ahead and erase the pics on the camera.  I often forget to do this and end up with hundreds of pictures of my camera.  Paranoid? Yeah, I know.  Well, this time, I thought, "Don't be stupid, you just uploaded them to the computer and you checked to make sure they were there.  Just delete them."  So, I did.

GAH!!!!

I forgot that the upload program I use balks at videos.  There is a perfectly ridiculous video of this old woman at the aquarium that I took a video of.  Not something that we needed at all.  And that is where my uploading pics stopped.  And since I deleted the other photos, I have lost several dozen AWESOME pics of the beach and frolic time with Lady Corso on the beach even one of her eating CRAB LEGS!  I know!  And some great pictures of this giant statue of Neptune on the beach.  And just....GAHH!!  TOTAL FAIL!

I then used that same disk to put the pics from the party on Saturday.  Perhaps ruining my chances, but if anyone ANYONE has any suggestions on how to save deleted material on a SD card, I would greatly appreciate it.

Cause I totally suck....
