10:36 pm - Happy Anniversary!
Lady,

It has been a marvelous year!  From turbulent beginnings to to very serendipitous events I have had a great time!  You are really awesome!  Even more fantastic than I could have imagined!  I am really, really happy that you are a part of my life.  I look forward to many more fabulous years of your company!

To many more fabulous evenings of horrible zombie movies, random snark, daily chats, fine wine, and good times!

Te adoro, mi amor......te adoro....

11:21 am - BABIES!!!!!
So my good buddy Adam's wife had their baby yesterday!  YAY!!!!  I am terribly excited!  I love babies!  I wants one, I wants one, I wants one!!  OH!

We have an ongoing trade off.  He is somewhat envious of my debaucherous and lecherous lifestyle of hedonistic, libatious delight where I am equally envious of his bundle of joy and imminent fatherhood.  It is a wonderful game of swapping stories.  I tell him about sexy parties and he tells me he felt his daughter kick.  It all balances out.

Adam and introducing Brenna!

Yay for tired, but happy momma Tiffani!

BABIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I feel as though the tribe has expanded just a bit and I have all kinds of protective instincts firing!  Maybe I can work out time to go see them this week!  BABIES!!!!

current mood: ecstatic

4:16 am - My old friend...
So, I haven't been quite THIS insomniac in a long time.  I am going to blame the strong presence of Selene.

Been waxing poetic all day, I am curious to see what comes of that.

Batman:  The Dark Knight was really great.  I thoroughly enjoyed it.  It gets a roughly 97% approval rating.  Nothing has gotten that since V for Vendetta (which I also got to enjoy with my favorite Cherub  *waves*)  Heath nailed the Joker in spectacular ways.  The true essence of the idea I have of what Joker represents.  They finally let a bad guy go full tilt out.  I wanted to reach into the screen and slap the shit out of a lot of people, but that isn't b/c what they said was terribly wrong per se...just ridiculous human bullshit.  But, it was beautiful to watch the Joker work.  My inner super-villan was bouncing for joy!  I have issues with the ending, but I will save that discussion for another time.  Many of you slackers have yet to see it.

P.S.

BSG is really starting to piss me off  (again).  I don't think the Cylons have a freaking plan.  I think they are making it up as they go along.  I trusted certain reviewers *eyes [info]inlovewithnightand Macho and Momo* and thus I will finish the season, but they had better start blowing my skirt up.  There is not even a breeze on the panties at the moment.  Exodus was fan-tabulous though.  And it is the exhaust from that explosively good plan that drives me still (not to mention my insane desire to finish things I start..even horrible movies), but they are running out of fuel fast.

And with all this bullshit with the love quadrangle...........once again, hate to pull out the poly stick, but a little dose of poly would make ALL of your lives simpler.  He loves her and she loves him, but she also loves him.  She loves him and he and he loves her, but he also loves her.  Sounds like a long dinner, a touch of wine for nerves, and some negotiation and all could be well.  But nooo...we want drama.  *shakes head at all the longing and wanting and needing and lying and cheating and hurt feelings*  so sad.  Ok...disc Five then...  Waiting for my socks to be blown off.

1:25 pm - From the annals of "Couldn't possibly be true!"

*ganked from

[info]evilbobrex  *

Some people are just too stupid to believe.

So, let me get this straight:  I have a treatment to offer you, but it can only be applied in your vagina, and I have to use my penis to do it?

Dude....after several months of that, I am going to have to agree with Evil, this is not rape.  Maybe abuse of the retarded or something, but not rape by deception.  This woman is a teacher????!?!?!  A TEACHER!!!!!!  *swoons*

1:03 pm - random race relations drama
Ok, so on NPR they were highlighting a piece about race relations in New Orleans.  Apparently after everyone fled, a bunch of hispanics moved in to get work in the rebuilding effort.  People are back and forth on the issue, and there are many cool heads that welcome all their neighbors, "Nah'lens has always been a big gumbo pot of people anyway!"  Oh, thank you matronly lady for your cute statements.

However, there were some, who had issues.  Two in particular were a hispanic couple running a restaurant.  "Black people don't want to work hard, they want breaks, and they want to get away with as little work as possible for more money.  Hispanic people are hard working and don't complain.  But, I don't want to make this about race."  *blink, blink*  How do people manage to get these things out of their mouths?  You are stereotyping the entire ethnic group but then you realize that you sound like a racist, so you try to back out with, "But I don't want to make this about race"?  DUDE!!!!!!

And his wife is not better:  "With this black guy running for president, I fear what will happen if he gets elected!  The black people all over will rise up and think they have a right to take anything they want!"  *mouth agape*

This person thinks that b/c there is a black person in office the rest of us are going to mount some grand coup to take over the country doing as we please, b/c we have a brotha in office?  NOW we can run amok with no repurcussions?     *cries into my hand*  I know I get a lot of flack for being naive about the status of race relations in this country, but that is mostly b/c it is a non-issue for me.  It comes up now and again (like driving through central FL and rural GA..oh yeah..and now gun shows...) but on the whole, not something I think about.  But really? That is such a ridiculous notion that I cannot even get my mind around it.  Does she think that if Hilary got elected women were going to rise up and over throw the patriarchal society in one fell swoop of whirling high heels and flinging bras?   GAH!!!!!

Humans........once again, I am ashamed to be amongst you.

12:16 pm - Be afraid...be very, very afraid....

**Nods to

[info]mariebfor the heads up.**

It appears that HHS moves to define contraception as abortion

"In a spectacular act of complicity with the religious right, the Department of Health and Human Services Monday released a proposal that allows any federal grant recipient to obstruct a woman's access to contraception. "

Up to now, the HHS has used the OBGYN definition of pregnancy as following implantation.  But now, if they change that definition to include the ambigious and potentially impossible to define period where an ova is actually fertilized, then an entire new set of contraceptives may become defined as abortive agents.

And for all those places funded by federal dollars...

"With HHS' proposal they have struck gold. Anyone working for a federal clinic, or a health center that receives federal funding -- even in the form of Medicaid -- and would like to prevent a woman from accessing most prescription birth control methods has federal protection to do so."

The HHS proposal details:

"Because the statutes that would be enforced through this regulation seek, in part, to protect individuals and institutions from suffering discrimination on the basis of conscience, the conscience of the individual or institution should be paramount in determining what constitutes abortion, within the bounds of reason. As discussed above, both definitions of pregnancy are reasonable and used within the scientific and medical community. The Department proposes, then, to allow individuals and institutions to adhere to their own views and adopt a definition of abortion that encompasses both views of abortion."

They get to individually decide, based on their conscience which definition to use?   GAHHHHH!!!!!!

I am going to second [info]marieb ,   I will get back to you when I stop bleeding from the eyes!!!!

11:24 am - The assination of Thelocar
So...my good buddy Cherub is hosting Dorkapalooza next weekend.  I have volunteered to run a Sabbat one shot on Friday.  I generally suck at one-shots.  My personal style involves a lot of long term roleplaying and slow deveolpment of plot.  I like subtle touches and progressive denouement (I really do like that word and find lots of places to use it), but this year is about doing things that scare me or that I am generally not comfortable with.  So...here's my shot...

Right now, I have no idea how many players there will be, so I will manipulate the story based on the number of players there are.  We are going on Friday.  I suggest that we get together around 6ish to work out character creation.  I Would recommend that any potential players make up a pretty bad ass ancilla.  This is not a beginning character, so make an ass-kicker or well established sneaky bastich.  Don't forget, you don't get this far without having some fucked up situations.  In other words bring your flaws, derangements, foibles, or I will give them to you.  I will trim down people that over do it, but shoot high.  The pack will be well established and together for at least a decade of interaction (in other words, generally, you already trust each other and have a long history with each other).  Feel free to contact me for any questions.

P.S.

Cherub, feel free to link this or copy the text and send it to anyone that you know that might be interested.

12:01 pm - Swim Event Saturday 28th!
Alright Kiddos!  Last event for this year's Satyricon!

Going swimming at the Quarry Heights Recreational Area.

I was figuring between like 1 pm and around 8 ish, so pretty much all day.

There is a pavillion for our use with a grill.  Going to bring some charcoal and some eats.  Bring something if you like, take your chances with what we got if not.   :)

Bringing the cooler as well.  Apparently, we can have glass up at the pavillion, just not down at the beach area.

Here is a link to the directions.  I made the directions from the Walgreens on Broadway, hopefull that helps, but the map will give you an idea of how to find it.

There is some wackyness concerning the key and a gate that is supposed to be locked, but I think it will be okay if we just remember to put the chain back on the gate so it LOOKS locked.  If it is locked give a holla, and we should be able to come up and get ya.

8:19 am - oh lawd....
Listening to NPR this morning......once again, I am said for my fellow human beings.  They interviewed some swing voters and here are some of the highlights:

*I think that if Osama - I mean Obama, there is only one letter difference there, and his middle name is Hussein, come on people - is elected it will just be wrong.  He has a Muslim background and I just can't stomach that.

*I have questions about his patriotism.  Obama won't put his hand on a bible and swear, that doesn't sit well with me.

*I am a democrat, and I don't care if Hilary does support him, I don't trust her or anything she does.

-shit...you would think she lied to the entire country about her military service, weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, the chance of an
insurgency, the threat of climate change, an election, etc, etc, etc...

*If Obama gets elected I fear for the furthering of the "Black Agenda" in this country.

-Ok, this one I have to talk about in depth.  Black Agenda?  What the fuck!?!?  First I missed out on all the gay agenda meetings, now I
am missing out on the black agenda meetings?  This sucks!  I want in on the conspiracy!  This just blows!  *laughs*  How
long...really...how freaking long are some people going to be afraid of the great black uprising?  The crazy rebellion they have been
worried about for centuries?  Fire in the streets, cornbread on the shelves, painting the white house black, no more apple pie but now
sweet potatoe pies, and the rampant raping of white women.  Oh yeah, and the enslavement of white people, can't forget that one.
Since you know, EVERY black person is just waiting to turn the tables and have their "reverse racism!"  Surely they don't want equal
treatment or anything.  They thirst for REVENGE!!!!!   For fuck's sake!

There was a single gleam of hope.

*I am a career republican, and I have always voted on moral issues.  In light of the economic craziness going on in this country, I am having second thoughts.  Maybe, I should be looking at different things.

About damn time.....nitwit (no..it is not nice...she needs positive encouragement)......here, have a cookie.

1:10 pm - please correct me if I am wrong, but....
If your house/town is protected by a levee, why would you need the government to require that you get flood insurance?  I mean..really...

There is a point where the government cannot be held responsible for not not holding your hand and spoon feeding you.  If i am not mistaken, this area flooded in 1993, yes?  If that is true, then I have even less sympathy.  What the fuck people?

I am one of the pro-government guys in this little enclave, and even I am not with them on this one.  If you have to build a levee to protect from flooding, then you probably should have flood insurance.  `nuff said.

Insurance not required, FEMA told flooded town
